With Buddhist and Zen meditation, it is the breath that is the primary focus. The feel of your breath entering and leaving your body and the way it feels when it fills your lungs. You do not let your mind drift. It remains on the thoughts and sensations of your breath and ties you to your body. With Zen meditation however you also introduce a specific thought that you concentrate on as well. It may be something as profound as \”what is the sound of one hand clapping\”. In Zen meditation, this thought is called a koan. Transcendental meditation uses a sound or word such as \”ohm\” or \”ahh\” in order to provide a mental focus. Breathing is important but concentration is focused on the sound you are making.

Binge eating is associated with a number of different situations. If you are feeling low and eating alone for comfort regularly and feel ever more depressed and guilty afterwards then you may have a problem. If you feel that you eat when you are not even hungry and that you eat large quantities until you are totally full, or eat very quickly then again you might want to look at yourself closely. You\’ll probably know what triggers you to pig out and start eating anything and everything in sight.

This can lead to serious physical problems and massive weight gain which in turn can cause heart problem. It is important to get to the bottom of why you feel so depressed and guilty.

In many cases, it is a vicious cycle in that people get depressed about something in their lives, then eat to find comfort. Food then becomes like a drug to them and they in turn become more depressed due to their eating habits and the affect it is having on their health and appearance.

Yo overcome it you need to take things one day at a time and to get down to the roots of the problem. Often sufferers associate the idea of failing diets as being worse that their current problems and so never stick with it. Binge eating is far more of a problem for many people that is thought by the masses. For those who don\’t suffer from and understand the condition, they cannot see it as a proper medical disorder. For those who do have it, it is often dismissed and ignored as a serious problem and hidden due to embarrassment. In order to stop binge eating however, steps must be taken.

For a start, you need to take care of your mental well-being and to get to the root of the problem that has caused you to start comfort eating seemingly all the time. Distress and depression can lead to people seeking alternatives forms of comfort, be these drugs, alcohol or food. And this often gets taken to extremes, hence the term binge.

It is commonly seen that people \’get out the ice-cream\’ following a relationship breakup in order to conform themselves, yet this is a far more extreme and serious issue for some. Eating until you feel so full you feel sick, eating a lot when you don\’t feel any hunger, eating very quickly or eating along and feeling guilty and depressed afterwards. These are all symptoms associated with binge eating.

In order to counter the problem you need to get positive things in your life and become happy or at least happier. Binge eaters feel depressed and turn to food which in turn makes them more depressed. Furthermore, the good they gorge on is predominantly unhealthy and full or fat and calories are bad for your body and cause negative feelings.

For a start, you need to find a diet that works for you, incorporating good foods into your life, but not going cold turkey on other snacks. It is important to try to get some exercise as this releases positive chemicals into your body that acts somewhat as a natural anti-depressant.

The best thing to do is to get support and talk to people. Family and friends will be only too keen to help you if you only admit you have a problem and are not too ashamed. However, if you seek privacy, then support groups are a great way to find those who have gone through the same experiences as yourself.

Understanding How Manifestation Meditation Works

December 13, 2009 by Trevor Johnson

There is no one I’ve come across who never talks about what they wish they could achieve. For the most part people talk about success and their actions are targeted towards that in whatever way possible. But this is not enough sometimes if the cards you were dealt make it more difficult to attain goals. Nevertheless, manifestation meditation is a new way of achieving success.

Inasmuch as it is good to multi-task the brain gets easily confused with random thoughts. There is something about so many tasks that gets the mind unable to process all of them adequately. This phase of manifestation meditation is all about making your mind know what you wish for in a simplified manner.

Manifestation meditation cannot be carried out randomly; there are steps that should be followed if anything tangible is going to come out of it. The very first thing you must do is think hard about what you want from life. Go to a quiet place where you won’t e disturbed by noise or irritating personalities. Once you have found a place you can then reflect on your life and make sure that you are sure minded about what you want. Write this down and make sure you pin up the piece of paper on the walls of your room.

Manifestation meditation is about concentrating a dominant thought in your mind and becoming one with it. Sit down again in a quiet area and just relax. This calming down has an effect of consolidating your dreams and laying them down in the proper format for your mind to absorb. In addition to this you can combine your vision of success with an image that fills you with compassion, the energy is said to be a powerful ingredient to the success you want.

While in this meditative state you should imagine your success. When you do this be sure to focus on that alone and remove any distracting thoughts that will drag you off course. Picture your success to intricate detail in your mind and hold that image for the entire duration of your meditative cycle.

To make the meditation more powerful you should clip out pictures associated with your vision of success. Cut out pictures of the car you want and attach them to your piece of paper. Another thing is that you must focus on your imagined success throughout your day as you take the necessary steps that will help you achieve your success.

A lot of people notice that as they age they find themselves getting more tired during the day. It is possible to counteract this by learning how to overcome tiredness by implementing changes in lifestyle.

Your job can suffer, you become anxious, it is harder to concentrate and driving can become dangerous. It is not difficult to modify your lifestyle so you feel more energetic.

It can occur that by eating a big meal we feel tired. When there is food in out stomach we can feel very sluggish and lethargic. Our body will use its energy to digest food; in the process there are less hormones and adrenaline in our bloodstream to stimulate our body and minds. The heavier a meal is the more tired you will become, try eating many light snacks as opposed to three big meals. These should include fresh fruit and vegetables.

So that you do not feel tired at strange times it is important to keep up a good sleep pattern. You should be going to your bed and getting up at the same hour each night and morning. Experts suggest that from six to eight hours is the optimal amount. If you often wake up during the night or have trouble falling asleep when you go to bed then you may need to take an insomnia remedy.

If you consume large doses of stimulants each day then this will play havoc with your sleep metabolism. We all know that coffee and sugary drinks can help us to wake up and feel refreshed, but after their affects have worn off we are likely to feel even more tired than we originally did. It is often better to avoid caffeine altogether, and definitely so in the evenings as it can prevent us falling asleep at our usual time.

If you have a healthy body then you are less likely to feel tired. A positive exercise regime will actually provide you with better energy and stamina and also release more adrenaline and endorphins into the bloodstream.

Everyone wants to learn new things, take on new challenges and hobbies, perhaps learn how to grow and care for a garden, or learn a second language. With all of the things that one does in their day already there is rarely time for extra-curricular activities. Now this is changing with the opportunity of learning while you sleep.

If you were to take a sponge, and squeeze it, set it in water and then watch it absorb the liquid, it will retain as much as possible, when you attempt to add more liquid, the sponge beings to leak.

Our brains tend to do the same thing over and over again, and when we learn something new the chances are we will forget something else instead. Although it is possibly to successfully learn new things without going into brain overload.

According to scientists, during a specific phase of one’s sleep you are able to attain and retain new information in your brain better than if you were awake. Although it has not been scientifically proven and acknowledged in the world of science, there are many industries already claiming this is a success.

There are two current groups of scientists who are out there researching and experimenting with carious subjects on the affects of learning while you sleep. About 80 % of them focus on the Non REM phase of sleep.

Believing this is when a person will retain most of the information given to them through audio listening, during ones sleep phase. The other 20% believe this occurs during REM sleep phases. Try it for yourself to see what works best for you.

The problem is there is never enough time in the day to accomplish this, eventually everyone will be looking into learning while you sleep and there will be an even larger market for this type of education that what we already are seeing.

Can The Aging Process Be Delayed?

December 11, 2009 by Trevor Johnson

It’s normal to want to know can the aging process be delayed? With a significant fear of becoming older, many scientists have been trying to adequately delay the aging process for decades. The study of mice and other animals have been the focus of slowing or stopping the aging process in mammals.

Since most of us are looking to stop the aging process as early as possible we all tend to look into what products might help us. Looking young and being are two different things, but most of us will at least accept that looking younger is not a bad alternative. Whether you choose to stop washing your face with soap and water in order to prevent further wrinkling of the skin or you go into surgery, your quest for youth is not unusual.

Quite frankly one of the first places you’ll want to look is what you’re eating. If you are eating high calorie, fatty prepared foods your body will age faster than those that eat healthier, lower calorie meals. Some claim that vegetarianism will help reduce the effects of aging.

There is plenty of reading material that can help you set yourself up with an anti aging diet and a regimen that works for most people. You can use these healthy diet plans to help you set your body up for a better chance at remaining healthier, which in turn means it is also remaining younger.

Emotional engagement and mental challenges are part of staying on top of the aging process. Think of the brain like a muscle. If you don’t use it, it “atrophies” in a sense. The more you engage in the world the happier you tend to be. This also helps keep aging at bay.

We are not really sure whether age is something we will ever be able to prevent. Can the aging process be delayed significantly? It is possible that with a healthy diet and the right products that you can keep your body much younger than it actually is.

Have a peek at this way to delay the aging process and find out how you can stay younger looking naturally.

A Fear Of Taking Tests – Tips And Advice

December 8, 2009 by Trevor Johnson

The fear of taking tests is called testophobia. Most everyone experiences some level of anxiety when it comes to taking tests – this is natural. However, if the fear is extreme, something must be done. The following article will discuss some tips and advice when it comes to overcoming testophobia.

Many experts say that stress is often the result of lack of oxygen to the brain. Breathing exercises help return the flow of oxygen to the brain back to normal. Practicing regular breathing exercises can significantly reduce the amount of stress you feel before taking a test.

In addition to breathing techniques, regular exercise can help reduce your fears of taking tests. This does not necessarily mean you should go out and immediately start run marathons. Low impact exercise works just as well as long as you do it regularly. The lower your stress level is, the less likely you are to be affected by test anxiety of any kind.

Poor eating habits can also contribute to the fear of taking tests. If one does not eat right, they are way more likely to be stressed over situations like taking a test. Eating the right foods before you have to take a test can make all the difference in the world. Our brains work best when our bodies get everything they need.

One more thing you can do to help decrease your chances of temporarily losing your mind, and bombing a test, is to get a good night’s sleep the night before. When your body is rested, your mind is rested. It is recommended that you get at least 7 hours of sleep, ideally eight hours of sleep, before taking a test. This is a proven technique to help reduce the amount of stress you are going to feel over a test.

Some people experience extreme anxiety when it comes down to taking tests. In certain cases, test anxiety cannot be overcome by using these techniques. Perhaps you are one of the people who suffers with an extreme test taking anxiety. If so, you may want to consult with your doctor about the best methods to help you overcome your fears.
