Important Tips About Nail Fungus

Nail Fungus is an embarrassing and uncomfortable affliction, infecting many people so consider yourself lucky if you have been spared this ordeal of nail disfigurement.
Talking from my own personal experience, this condition is uncomfortable and not at all visually appealing. I was taken aback when a couple of toenails came completely off my nail bed. On top of that my doctor said that there was a high possibility of the new nails being deformed and would take almost a year to grow fully. Well, I was fortunate and the nails were not deformed but grew at an extremely slow pace which disturbed lot of my routine life and had to curtail activities outside the house.
Having a helpful disposition, I want people to benefit from my experience of tackling this malady, from knowing the symptoms, to curing and getting back fit healthy nails.
First, I have to admit, I really had no clue about the signs of a nail infection or what causes it. After doing extensive research I found that a nail infection occurs when a fungus attacks a toenail, fingernail, or the nail bed. Fungus can invade your nails through cuts around your nail or through the opening between your nail and nail bed. If you have good health, a fungal nail infection most likely will not cause significant. However, it will probably look bad, like in my case, and may even hurt if it becomes worse.
The infection can be caused by a fungus and also other organisms like molds and yeasts. These creatures thrive in conditions and places which offer moisture and warmth. Nail fungus is contagious and can be contracted from a person already suffering from it. Typically you can catch an infection in areas frequented by many people like swimming pools, showers and salons. Make sure to carry your own towels and do not share items like scissors and clippers meant for nails. You cannot say for sure where you can get the infection but you can take all the precautions.
Knowing the symptoms of nail fungus will give you an advantage, so that you can start the curative process immediately, and not wait until it\’s too late to save the nail. The symptoms are:
-Discoloration of nail to white, black or yellow -Nail getting thickened -Nail start to split and crumble -Nail detaching from nail bed -Painful walking or when putting on shoes
Don\’t avoid the signs I\’ve noted above. I can tell you first hand, if you do not treat this condition it will not go away on its own, and it might get worse like it did in my case. If you have nail fungus then there is no time to waste because you need to use the right treatment immediately before the nail fungus causes permanent damage or spreads to the rest of your fingernails and toenails.
Since I\’ve had this problem on several occasions I have tried many products on the market, both prescription and over the counter. After comparing the results from both I can honestly say that many of the over the counter products are just as effective as the doctor prescribed products I\’ve used but with little or no side affects. So what I can tell you with 100% confidence is that you don\’t need to go to a doctor to get rid of your nail fungus. However, forget about any home remedies you\’ve read about on the internet because I have tried them all and can save you a lot time and money by saying – they don\’t work!
Products which can be locally applied are the best. I was averse to ingest any medication internally for this malady since it is only a nail problem. The bottom line is that there are plenty of topical anti-fungal products readily available without a prescription and are great at curing this problem.
To sum up I would say that nobody needs to live with a nail infection . Just be sure to act fast if you think you have nail fungus because this problem won\’t correct itself.
