All around the world there are people suffering from over indulging in alcohol consumption. Many may realize they are a suffering alcoholic and some may not. There are several different symptoms of an alcoholic and there are those who are more susceptible to developing the condition.

Many alcoholics’ lives revolve around alcohol. Alcoholism can potentially kill someone and is very serious. Many alcoholics stop hanging out with those who know them the best. Whether their symptoms have already been noticed by their loved ones and they don’t want to have to answer questions or accusations, or because they would rather them not realize their problem. Alcoholics will often times change their routines, going for days or weeks before they make contact with anyone.

Alcoholism causes havoc in an alcoholic’s life, usually affecting many different aspects of their lives. Often times the disease will result in financial problems. Possibly, because they stay out all night drinking or suffering from a hang over and either miss work of have poor performance. Often times they may spend so much money on supporting their drinking habits that they have problems paying their bills.

The disease exudes several characteristic in alcoholics. Often times one of the first signs is if a person has to drink increasing amounts of alcohol to reach the same affects that was once reach with much less. Many alcoholics may have drunk much more than they should have, but they do not appear to be drunk.

Those suffering from alcoholism often times show visible signs of the disease, including drinking increasing amounts of alcohol to get the same affects. This is because they have developed a tolerance for alcohol. So many alcoholics may have drunk a lot more than they should, but they do not appear drunk. Others may do and say things while drunk that they do not remember when sober.

Some alcoholics start drinking as soon as they wake in the mornings and with every meal and others will binge drink, where they drink several drinks in a small amount of time. Many will go to work, school, or to other activities while drunk. Often times alcoholics will try to hide their addiction. A few other signs of alcoholism may be if someone experiences cravings for alcohol, drinks alone, make excuses for drinking, have aggression and significant mood wings when drunk, and have significant appearance changes. Alcoholism can lead to several medical conditions including sorosis of the liver, pancreatitis, and heart problems. They may also suffer from malnutrition and sexually dysfunction.

Alcoholism is a very serious problem. This serious disease is not only dangerous for alcoholics themselves but also for others. Many alcoholics drive while drink endangering no only themselves but others. One of the first steps to recovery is to admit one has a drinking problem. While some alcoholics may be able to recovery from the disease on their own, most need professional help. The safest solution is for alcoholics to seek professional help and determine a course of action.
